Clio Pricing Overview

Clio charges $39 to $149 per user per month across three tiers as of March 2026. But that’s just Clio Manage. The actual cost depends on which additional products your firm needs.

The key detail: Clio Manage is one product. Clio also sells Grow (CRM and client intake), Draft (document automation), and Operate (large firm operations) as separate subscriptions. Most small firms need at least Manage + Grow, which means two bills from the same vendor.

Hidden Costs and Gotchas

The four-product problem. Clio’s product fragmentation means features that should be in one tool are spread across separate subscriptions. Users describe the Grow/Manage integration as clunky. You can’t take a payment before creating a matter, for example. This is especially frustrating when you’re paying for both products.

Processing fee increases. Users report that Clio Payments processing fees increase after the initial signup period. Given that payment processing is where many firms interact with Clio most frequently, this adds up. Multiple reviews describe the pattern as a “bait-and-switch.”

Feature removal without notice. Clio removed card payment linking from Clio Scheduler without warning, which one reviewer described as “retroactively recharging all prior card payments in a different manner and ruining the firm’s accounting system.” For a compliance-sensitive industry, unannounced changes to financial features are a serious concern.

Reporting inconsistencies. Clio’s reporting draws repeated criticism for “inconsistent terminology throughout the software” and “inconsistent filter options across reports.” Custom fields are easy to add but extracting data from them is unreliable. Users describe the reporting as “half-baked.”

Clio Drive performance. Clio’s document management (Clio Drive) “frequently stops working,” according to user reports. For firms that rely on cloud document storage as part of their daily workflow, intermittent outages create real productivity losses.

If you capture leads from a website, track where prospects are in intake, and collect signed retainers before opening a matter, Grow is where that workflow lives.

Clio Manage is still required for matter management, billing, trust accounting, and docketing. The two products share a contact database but run as separate applications. Users describe the integration as functional but not seamless. Conflict checks require an active Manage subscription because the conflicts database lives in Manage, not Grow.

For a 5-attorney firm on annual billing, Grow adds $245/month to whatever Manage tier you are on, on top of $345-645/month for Manage depending on tier.

Clio Draft pricing

Clio Draft is Clio’s document automation product. It lets attorneys build templates with merge fields and generate completed documents from them: engagement letters, retainer agreements, demand letters, and other forms your firm produces repeatedly.

Clio Draft pricing is not published on Clio’s pricing page. It is available on request and varies by firm size. It is not included in any Clio Manage tier — not EasyStart, not Essentials, not Complete.

Attorneys who assume document automation comes with a full-featured practice management platform are often surprised by this. If you are evaluating Clio and document automation is a requirement, get the Draft price separately before signing a Manage contract.

What Clio actually costs: Manage + Grow + Draft
